Hymn suggestions for Sunday 4 May 2025
3rd Sunday of Easter

The Methodist Church offers today as Vocations Sunday.
Worship resources have been prepared, including a sermon. They follow today's lectionary, in particular the conversion of Saul (Paul) in the book of Acts and Jesus' post-resurrection conversation with his disciple Peter recorded in the Gospel of John.
All resources are available in English and Welsh.
This Sunday is also marked as Christ the Worker Sunday, an annual celebration organised by Kent Workplace Mission (KWM). Coming close by International Workers' Day (Labour Day) on 1 May, and also reflecting the Roman Catholic focus on Joseph the Worker at the start of May, KWM's resources help us think about all in the world of work, and those who are unemployed.

A prayer for the Church to bring hope
Among our worries or despair,
you are there.
Among those who are anxious or frail,
you are there.
In the times when we care,
you are there,
and in the times when we fail,
you are there.
In our calling,
open our minds and our hearts to your ways,
so that we may know how to help those in distress.
Enable your Church to be a voice that can be heard,
a people who bring hope to those who feel hopeless,
and to have the courage to face challenges together,
by the power of your Spirit,
Amen.

A prayer for our suffering - Alternative Prayer
Look with divine pity, O God, on the pains of your whole family, and let the passion of Christ and his infinite love make fruitful for good the tribulations of the innocent, the sufferings of the sick, and the sorrowing of the bereaved. Amen.
