A group of Methodist Church leaders and students from Cliff College have been in West Africa this week as guests of the Methodist Church in Ghana. The purpose of the visit, which takes place during the 190th anniversary of Methodism in Ghana, is to enable encounter and to deepen the partnership between the Churches.
So far the group has met with the Presiding Bishop, Most Rev. Professor Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, and other Connexional officers. It has led worship in local churches in Cape Coast and spent time at some of the slave forts which were at the heart of the transatlantic trade in enslaved Africans. The group have also visited rural churches, religious leaders and Methodist healthcare and training facilities in northern Ghana.
It has been a fascinating, inspiring, enriching and at times challenging experience and the group will be sharing some of their reflections and learnings from the trip over coming weeks through the Methodist website.
