A Methodist Church is celebrating all things LEGO with an annual exhibition – with a giant tree made of the bricks as the centrepiece.
St John’s Methodist Church in Llandudno will be hosting its annual LEGO Exhibition from 7 to 31 August. With a newly built two-metre fir tree as its centrepiece, the theme this year is ‘Care for Creation’.
Entry to the exhibition is free and last year 17,000 visitors flocked through the doors in three weeks.
Everyone is welcome to marvel at the variety and detail of the models – and the sheer number of them.
Favourite models from previous years will be on show, including the giant panda, the four-foot eagle, the goat and Mickey Mouse.
And there will be new creations to look out for too – not just the tree. The exhibition is Wales’ largest, privately-owned collection of LEGO.
While viewing is offered free as a gift to the residents and visitors of Llandudno, if you are feeling generous you can leave a donation.
This year, donations are being invited to support restoration work on the church tower, costing over £300,000.
Visitors will be invited to build a LEGO tower and sponsor a brick.
LEGO-creator Alan Gordon, said: “It is great to see faces light up when they see all the LEGO.”
The Revd James Garnett said: “Awe at the sight of all the LEGO creations is a reminder of our awe at the naturally created world. I hope the exhibition is an opportunity to recapture this awe and inspire us in our care for creation.”
