Before candidating for ministry, she worked as a music teacher, offering piano and violin lessons to students of all ages, while also serving faithfully as a local preacher for over a decade.

Teaching brought joy, particularly in watching her students grow—but deep down, a quiet restlessness lingered, pointing her toward something more.

That sense of calling started to surface through conversations with friends and time spent with a life coach.

It was a pastoral encounter in a care home that finally brought things into focus when Rachael was unexpectedly asked to pray with a dying woman and her family, Rachael agreed.

In that vulnerable moment, she sensed God’s presence and recognised the stirrings of something deeper. She began the candidating process during the pandemic.

It was a time of uncertainty, but one that affirmed her call with every step. “Each time I thought the door would close,” she recalls, “it opened.”

Reflecting on the faithfulness that has led her to ordination at Shrewsbury Abbey, Rachael, commented, “Balancing life as a minister, wife, mother, and daughter hasn’t been easy but God has provided all I’ve needed,” she says. “With God, all things are possible,” she says. “And I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
