Are you called to offer support to victims and survivors of abuse
The Connexional Safeguarding Team often receives contacts from victims and survivors of abuse, in need of pastoral support to help them cope with trauma and also often to help them discuss faith-related issues. We are hoping to compile a list of ministers and lay people with the necessary skills to offer pastoral support to victims and survivors of abuse. We are looking for volunteers with a good understanding of the after-effects of trauma and who have experience of pastorally supporting survivors. If you joined our list, we would contact you if a survivor came forward asking for support in your area (or possibly via Zoom) and you would have the option to consider whether you feel able to support this person. There would be no commitment to support individuals; you would be on a list and you would be free to say no to any potential referral if your other commitments didn’t permit you to help in this way at that time. Thank you very much for your time and consideration of this opportunity. If you believe you have the necessary skills, please contact Kate Little, Safeguarding Survivor Lead Officer, on littlek@methodistchurch.org.uk
