Quietly Courageous - An invitation from the Revd Rory Dalgliesh
A while ago, Christine Dutton introduced the “ministers of larger churches” group to “Quietly Courageous”, a book by Gil Rendle. I bought and read it, and it has been profoundly helpful in my asking what it means to lead churches at this time.
Would you like to join me in a year-long exploration of the book in a curiosity-driven, supportive online group, sharing stories and reflecting on the book’s themes as they apply to our contexts as ministers?
There will be an online meeting on the second Monday evening of each month, from October to July, starting at 7.30pm and finishing by 9.30pm at the latest. Each meeting will require you to have read a section of the book beforehand. We will share thoughts and stories in the group and in breakout rooms, within an agreed ethical framework. Those who wish can take part in a dedicated Whatsapp group to share thoughts between meetings.
Places will be limited, so please contact isiphenduka@gmail.com to express your interest. Meetings will be recorded so that missed sessions can be accessed by the group, but I am asking you to commit to all of the sessions from the start, for the good of the group and to make the best use of limited spaces.
The dates are; 13/10, 10/11, 8/12, 12/1, 9/2, 9/3, 13/4, 11/5, 8/6 & 13/7.
The book is available widely so buying it as soon as possible and perhaps reading all of it is advised.
I hope you’re interested! It will be time well spent.
