The Methodist Church’s 2025 Christmas film

Each year, the Methodist Church releases a short film as part of its Advent and Christmas campaign – a resource that reaches hundreds of thousands of people across social media and in churches. This film is designed to spark curiosity about faith and encourage people to take the next step on their journey of faith. Christmas is a season rich with opportunity to share the extraordinary good news we hold as the Church. We hope this year’s film will support your ministry and outreach throughout Advent and Christmas.

This year’s film is a little different. It tells a real story – following the journey of someone who discovers that they are a gift to others, that the Church can be a gift to them, and that Jesus is the ultimate gift for all. The story concludes in one of our vibrant Methodist communities, and while the film is slightly longer than previous years, we believe every moment is worth sharing. It will be released on Thursday 4 December on our website and through our social media channels. We hope that you feel able to encourage your Church or Circuit to engage with this video as a missional opportunity.

As the film follows a Cantonese-speaking community, the film will be released in the following formats, to allow as many people as possible to engage with the story:

  • Cantonese speaking, English subtitles
  • English-dubbed
  • Cantonese speaking, English subtitles with British Sign Language
  • English-dubbed with British Sign Language

The film is part of our 2025 Advent and Christmas campaign, Gifted, which invites people to see themselves as a gift, the Church as a gift, and Jesus as the gift. You can explore the full range of resources and campaign details on our website, as well as a short blog on how everything fits together.

As we approach Christmas, we hope and pray you will be reminded: You are a gift. Made with love.
