Face 2 Faith photo competition launched
1st prize £350 Jessops vouchers
People of all ages and faiths are being encouraged to take part in the Face 2 Faith photo competition, capturing images that communicate something powerful about inter faith relations.
Face 2 Faith is the Methodist Church's month of prayer for inter faith relations, which runs throughout February 2007. Churches are taking part in three ways: by praying for better inter faith relations in Britain and the world, by doing something to encourage inter faith understanding in their community and by entering the Face 2 Faith photo competition.
Sponsored by Methodist Insurance, the competition will be judged on how well an image expresses something about inter faith relations and how people of different faiths in Britain and Ireland can live, work and love together.
Anyone in Britain and Ireland can enter, with young people especially encouraged to take part. Up to four pictures can be submitted with digital, print and even camera phone images being accepted.
Dr Elizabeth Harris, Methodist Secretary for Inter Faith Relations, said: 'We recognise that there are plenty of talented photographers out there Ð even if they don't know it yet. Photographs can really capture a moment or a feeling much better than we can express it in words. The month of prayer will draw to a close but we hope that increased understanding and commitment to working with people of other faiths will grow from that and continue into the future. A powerful image can communicate something that lasts much longer and stays in our thoughts - this is what we're looking for.'
The competition will run until 31 May 2007 and entries will be displayed on the Face 2 Faith website: www.face2faith.org.uk.
All the competition details can be found on the website or requested by post from: Inter Faith Office Methodist Church House 25 Marylebone Road London NW1 5JR
