Face 2 Faith photo competition launched

1st prize £350 Jessops vouchers

People of all ages and faiths are being encouraged to take part inthe Face 2 Faith photo competition, capturing images thatcommunicate something powerful about inter faith relations.

Face 2 Faith is the Methodist Church's month of prayer for interfaith relations, which runs throughout February 2007. Churches aretaking part in three ways: by praying for better inter faithrelations in Britain and the world, by doing something to encourageinter faith understanding in their community and by entering theFace 2 Faith photo competition.

Sponsored by Methodist Insurance, the competition will be judged onhow well an image expresses something about inter faith relationsand how people of different faiths in Britain and Ireland can live, work and love together.

Anyone in Britain and Ireland can enter, with young peopleespecially encouraged to take part. Up to four pictures can besubmitted with digital, print and even camera phone images beingaccepted.

Dr Elizabeth Harris, Methodist Secretary for Inter Faith Relations, said: 'We recognise that there are plenty of talented photographersout there Ð even if they don't know it yet. Photographs can reallycapture a moment or a feeling much better than we can express it inwords. The month of prayer will draw to a close but we hope thatincreased understanding and commitment to working with people ofother faiths will grow from that and continue into the future. Apowerful image can communicate something that lasts much longer andstays in our thoughts - this is what we're looking for.'

The competition will run until 31 May 2007 and entries will bedisplayed on the Face 2 Faith website: www.face2faith.org.uk.
