Assistant Secretary of the Methodist Conference

The Revd Dr Dan Haylett has been nominated as the next Assistant Secretary of the Methodist Conference. Subject to Conference agreement, he will take up the role from 1 September 2027.

The Assistant Secretary works with the Secretary of the Conference to undertake and deliver the duties and responsibilities of that office as well as overseeing the operation and development of policy and processes relating to ministers of the Church and their covenant relationship with the Conference. The role of Assistant Secretary is currently held by the Revd Michaela Youngson.

“It is a huge privilege to be called to support the Conference in the work of discerning how to be the Methodist people of today,” the Revd Dr Dan commented. “We are at our best when we share resources and learning as a Connexion, and I look forward to working to support the Church in every place to continue to fulfil the shared calling we have in Christ."

Dan has served in a variety of rural and urban appointments across the Connexion and is committed to supporting the Church to engage in mission well. Most recently, he has served as Chair of the South West Peninsula District.
