“Remember, on this day my heart was strangely warmed and it changed my life,” says ‘John Wesley’ during the Songs of Praise service at which Mrs Carolyn Godfrey preached in Wesley’s Chapel.
Wesley Day is always a big day with the pilgrimage to St. Paul’s Cathedral. Still, this year, the Wesley Chapel and Museum team planned a full day of worship and activities, including music intervals, a drum workshop enjoyed by Mrs Godfrey and costumed volunteers.
The pilgrimage started at John Wesley’s tomb, passed through Bunhill Fields cemetery, walked the John Wesley Walk at the Barbican and commemorated at the Aldersgate Flame before arriving at St. Paul’s Cathedral for an Evensong service.
A few hundred people attended the day or some activities, including Revd Dr Jongi Zihle, Chair of the London Methodist District, the East Barnet Anglican Methodist Partnership and the Susanna Wesley Fellowship.
