Methodist Church welcomes crackdown on sex trafficking

The Methodist Church has welcomed Pentameter 2, agovernment initiative to tackle the growing problem of sextrafficking. UK police forces aim to rescue women and children whohave been forced to work in the sex industry and to prosecute thosewho profit from human trafficking.

Margaret Sawyer, Secretary for the Women's Network of the MethodistChurch, says; 'We're delighted to welcome the long-awaitedPentameter 2 initiative to further track and arrest theperpetrators of trafficking and more importantly to releaseinnocent victims of this most abhorrent crime. However, we wouldurge the Home Office urgently and thoroughly to resource theprovision of proper safe houses and care networks in orderadequately to meet the needs of those who will be released.'
