It has been announced that Methodist churches are among those buildings to receive support from the government’s Places of Worship Renewal Fund and the Heritage at Risk Capital Fund. The scheme secured £41 million for essential repairs to 74 heritage and faith buildings in the UK .
£1.17m has been offered to Methodist churches, among them Primitive Methodist Church in St Ives, Queens Hall Methodist Mission in Wigan and Central Methodist Church in Launceston.
Conservation officer Joanne Balmforth commented, “We welcome this investment by Historic England which is testament to the importance they place on the significance of our historic built legacy and the good works of the congregants within them. Ensuring our historic fabric is maintained in a good condition is an important part of the mission of these churches, and we congratulate them on their efforts.”
