Response to the murder of Alan Henning

The President of the Methodist Conference, the Revd Kenneth GHowcroft said: "We are overcome with sorrow at the brutal murder ofAlan Henning. No religious, political or ideological causejustifies such acts. He was an ordinary man who extraordinarilysought to help fellow human beings. We thank God for him andcommend him to God."

The Vice-President, Ms Gill Dascombe, added: "We pray for hisfamily and friends, and for the Muslim communities for whoseexpressions of horror and support we are all very grateful.Together we must work and pray to oppose evil and createpeace."
