The death has been announced of Sister Eluned Williams, MBE. Sister Eluned was Vice-President of the Methodist Conference between 2000 and 2001, Llywydd Y Gymanfa between 1997 and 2003, President of Methodism in Wales, and President of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland in 1999.

She worked for National Children’s Home for 44 years. For 25 years she managed Ardwyn Children’s Home in Dinas Powys, as one of three staff running the home. After her retirement in 1990, she continued as an Action for Children Ambassador.

Past President Will Morrey said: ‘Eluned was an inspiration to many people of all ages. She was defined by Wales but Wales did not confine her as she shared her unique talents and compassionate nature so generously and widely.’

A Thanksgiving Service will be held at 2pm on Thursday 23 May at Ebeneser Methodist Chapel, Dolgellau. The service will be bilingual and largely in English. It will be preceded by a committal at Wrexham Crematorium at 10.30 am for family and close friends, and this service will be in Welsh.
