Senior Leaders’ Discernment Programme - Cohort 1

The first Senior Leaders’ Discernment Programme Cohort will begin in September 2026.

What is it?

An exciting 15-month supported Senior Leaders’ Discernment journey to develop your knowledge and skills for senior leadership in the life of the Church, and to journey with you through discernment about your calling to senior leadership within the life of the Church.

Who is this for?

Those discerning a call to senior leadership within the life of The Church and those who are in a senior leadership position within the life of the Church who would like to be part of this discernment journey. In Part 2 of the 2024 Council report to Conference, a ‘senior role’ was defined as:

• leadership roles in Districts (Chairs, Deputy / Assistant Chairs, Synod secretaries / senior lay roles in District leadership teams)
• leadership roles in the Connexion (Chairs / Deputy Chairs of Committees, Secretariat of the Conference, senior leadership roles in the Connexional Team).

This senior leadership discernment journey is open to both lay and ordained Methodists and also aims to support and affirm Methodists from traditionally under-represented groups in discerning their call to senior leadership within the life of the Church.
