Here's what we heard — September 2026

From this month, this note covers our other public surveys and groups as well as our standing question. In September that meant a new survey and a change to how we work with our two groups.

How churches run their administration

In September we asked churches, circuits and districts which tools they use to run their administration. By 28 September, 78 people had answered from 21 districts. So far, 48 of the 78 chose spreadsheets and email as their only answer from our list of tools.

We are still reading the rest of what you told us, including what your tools fail to do. The survey is open into October, and you can find it here.

One Feedback Group

Until September we had two groups: the Stakeholder Reference Group and the Champions Network. Their members had signed up for much the same thing, which is telling us honestly what they make of what we're doing, so we have brought them together as one Feedback Group. When there is something ready to look at, we plan to invite members to book a time that suits them to see it, try it and tell us what they think. Nothing is scheduled yet.

Our standing question

"Tell us about digital and the Methodist Church" stood at 130 responses on 28 September, the same total as last month's note. It is always open.

What we've done

Design work continues, building on everything the discovery phase heard. If you have not seen it, the full listening report is public. Read the listening report →

We publish one of these notes every month. We will be back next month with more.

The Digital Transformation Programme reads every response and publishes a "Here's what we heard" post at the end of every month.
