A Prayer for Inter Faith Week

In 2026 Inter Faith Week begins on Sunday 8 November. The theme this year is ‘Lighting the Way for a Shared Future’ and is intended to be a symbol of hope. The Revd Bonni-Belle Pickard shares her prayer in celebration of this special week.

God of us all,
Christian and Buddhist, Jewish and Muslim,
Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Zoroastrian, Bahá’í and Agnostic and Pagan:
You made us all, unique in our ways of understanding
yet one in our humanity.

At this time of celebrating Inter Faith Week,
we sometimes address you with different names,
but we share an understanding of our rootedness in you.

As Creator of all,
you made day and night and all the hours in between;
you created storms and calm and fire and breeze.
You made diversity,
and you made it to be good.

As the God who understands my words and my thoughts
and those of my neighbour that I do not:
Remind me again that you hear us all,
and you made us all to love.

Finally, God who makes us each unique yet one:
remind us again that by working through difference
we can catch a glimpse of your infinite love
that our own definitions alone couldn’t fathom.

Amen.
