You were human long before me.
You preceded me on earth.
Long before me, you knew hatred and forgiveness.
Long before me, you knew doubt and hope.
Long before me, you knew anger and peace.
Long before me, you knew sorrow and joy.
Thanks to your coming so long ago,
I am not alone today on the path,
for you carry with me
my hatred, my doubt, my anger and my sorrow,
for you give me
your forgiveness, your hope, your peace and your joy.
