Methodists at Durham Miners’ Gala

More than 200,000 people took part in Britain’s biggest celebration of community and solidarity last weekend at the Durham Miners’ Gala. The Methodist Church paraded a new banner was paraded through the streets of Durham this year, while the Evangelism and Growth team along with a team of volunteers, partnered with the Newcastle and Darlington districts and Elvet Methodist Church to listen and pray while recognising the relationship between Methodism and the mining community.

A Day in the Life of a Port Chaplain at the Queen Victoria Seafarers' Rest

Crystal Callow is new to her position as Port Chaplain at the Queen Victoria Seafarers Rest (QVSR) at Tilbury docks in London. The role is full of new experiences: in just a matter of weeks she’s learnt about pilots, tug-boats and port etiquette, which she says has been a “fantastic introduction to the fascinating world of shipping”.

As Christians we’re called to seek God’s justice. Justice that enables everyone, and all creation, to flourish. Justice that removes everything that diminishes people, that oppresses or exploits them. Justice that enables us all to grow in relationship with each other and with God.
