25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

peace-sunday

Peace Sunday is usually marked on the Sunday before or after the United Nations International Day of Peace (21 September). The World Council of Churches calls on churches to make this a day of prayer for peace, and to include prayers for peace in their services on the Sunday before or following. Resources are available at www.for.org.uk/peacesunday. Also see JPIT’s materials around Peacemaking.

This is a good Sunday to revisit Alan Gaunt's classic hymn: We pray for peace (StF 719), with its concluding note of certainty:

God, give us peace…
With you to lead us on,
through death or tumult, peace will come.

Wild flowers, Tiree

Creation Time runs from 1 September to the feast of St Francis on 4 October. The resource hub hosts a range of resources for worship and reflection under the theme of Climate and Creation
