The Church, which includes all Christians, is called to share the whole gospel with the whole world.
The gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ.
God is one, and God’s mission is to bring the world into unity in Christ. The Church shows what God’s Kingdom is like by joining in God’s work.
This mission includes both evangelism and social action. Evangelism means sharing the good news of Jesus in what we say and do, so that people can discover new life through faith in Christ. True evangelism reflects God’s character – it is loving, patient and humble and Christians desire to share God’s love faithfully.
The gospel must be spoken and lived.
Christians are called both to make disciples and to work for justice, peace and compassion. This includes standing with people who suffer, challenging injustice, and caring for those denied dignity, equality or basic needs. It also means caring for the natural world, which God created and loves.
The Church seeks justice, but does not simply copy the world around it. Its values come from God, even though the concerns of society sometimes remind the church of things it has forgotten. In all things, the Church listens first to God.
Because creation is good yet harmed by human sin, the church’s task is to reflect God’s creating and redeeming love: honouring each person, caring for the earth, and showing the courage of the prophets in the Old Testament and the gentleness of Christ.
The church can only live out this mission if it stays rooted in worship and prayer. The goal of the Christian life is oneness with God, shared both personally and as a community.
As the Church shares God’s life, its witness helps others to believe. Our worship and prayer shape who we are, so that the church proclaims Christ not only by its words but by the way it lives.
A Methodist Way of Life is a set of practices to help us understand the different actions we take as we join in God’s mission.
It reminds us that following Jesus is a whole‑life commitment. These practices include:
● Worship: we pray, reflect on the Bible and meet with others to praise God.
● Learning and caring: we seek to grow in faith, care for ourselves and others, and be open and hospitable.
● Service: we help people in need, challenge injustice, and care for creation as part of God’s work of renewal.
● Evangelism: we share our faith, live in ways that point to God’s love, and invite others to discover life in Christ.
