When? 2nd Sunday in July

An opportunity to remember and pray for those who work at sea, and the people who support them.

Resources are available from the Mission to Seafarers. If the date given is not convenient, you can use the worship materials at any other convenient time.

The theme for 2021 is "abandonment" - "an opportunity for us to remember the human cost of shipping and what sometimes happens when shipping companies close down or when ship owners run into financial difficulties.":

"When shipping companies run into trouble in this way, seafarers may be left to fend for themselves. They might not be paid and they might not have enough money to return home. . . "

An outline for sermons and talks draws inspiration from an occasion when Jesus faced a kind of abandonment, being rejected by people from his home town of Nazareth: Mark 6: 1-13.
