After the Flood: the Church, Slavery and Reparations

Tuesday 1st July

7:30pm start

Beckbury Suite, Telford International Centre

In 2021, the Methodist Conference formally recognised the impact and legacy of the transatlantic slave trade on enslaved African people and their descendants. It is currently exploring that legacy, looking at the extent to which the Church benefitted directly or indirectly from the transatlantic slave trade and will bring a report to Conference in the next couple of years.

We invite you to join the conversation through a screening and discussion of ‘After the Flood,’ a film by the Movement for Justice and Reconciliation (MJR) that opens up the conversation about the Church, slavery and reparation and challenges us on racial justice in our work and the legacies of prejudice within our church systems and actions.

There will be no catering at this event.
