Evangelism with Building Users
An opportunity on our doorsteps
Every week, hundreds of thousands of people walk through the doors of Methodist churches across the country.
Not for services, but for recovery groups, community cafes, uniformed organisations, slimming classes, sports activities, toddler groups and much more.
These are people who are known to us, who feel comfortable in our spaces, and are part of our communities.
If we hope to share our faith with others, it's most likely to happen in relationships where people know and trust us.
As churches, building users are often the people we already have strong relationships with, or at least people who we have good potential to get to know better.
For any church wanting to be more intentional about faith-sharing, reflecting on relationships with people who use the building is an excellent place to start.
Evangelism is rarely about going into situations with a predetermined outcome in mind, but about facilitating environments where faith-sharing becomes more possible, and being prepared and open to responding to opportunities when they arise.
That’s what the following sections are about: practical, relational, intentional ways of engaging with our building users that enable and encourage faith-sharing.
If you want to discuss how your church might engage with people who use your building, or ask questions about anything on these webpages, please get in touch with Cameron Lee-Hume, Evangelism Project Officer
