In 2025, a group was set up to explore how the principle of economic justice can be better lived out across the Methodist Church.
You can see the report on this work to the Methodist Conference in 2026 here (beginning on page 21): 3. Connexional Council, part 1
The work of the group aims to establish a Connexional process:
- to fund ministry and mission where the need is greatest, where the reserves are depleted, where the “income” is comparatively less due to poverty and economic marginalisation;
- to practise the connexional principle that the Church says it lives by; and
- to respond to the principle for justice that “God consistently shows a bias to people experiencing poverty and those who are excluded"
As part of this work, the group are seeking to hear from people across the Methodist Church about their experiences and understanding of economic justice in their context and in the life of the Methodist Church. Anyone from across the Methodist Church in Britain can get involved.
Complete the survey
Complete the online survey to share your experiences and understanding of economic justice within the life of the Church.
This short survey asks you about:
- The impact of a lack of economic justice in your context
- What would be different if there was economic justice in your context
- The opportunities you see to reach more economic justice in the Methodist Church
- Barriers to accessing funding for mission and ministry in the Methodist Church
Join an online gathering
In July and August 2026, two online gatherings will be held where you can share your thoughts on how we can achieve more economic justice in the Methodist Church.
You’ll have a chance to share your experience and opinions, which will feed in to the work of the group.
