A Global Sabbatical is a one to three-month opportunity for presbyters and deacons of the Methodist Church in Britain (MCB), taking their sabbatical in a global context to renew and deepen their vocation.

Who is it for?

It’s designed for presbyters and deacons looking to refresh their spiritual life, explore ministry in a different cultural setting, and return to their circuits renewed and re‑energised.

Why take a Global Sabbatical?

A Global Sabbatical helps you:

  • reignite your calling and deepen your vocation
  • experience God’s mission through a global partner of MCB
  • learn in mutual relationship with a global partner of MCB
  • explore justice issues in a global context
  • return home with new insights for worship, leadership and ministry.

You’ll receive full training, briefing and support – before, during and after your sabbatical.

Where could you go?

You could be placed anywhere in the world. Each sabbatical is carefully matched to a partner church that has asked to host a minister and can offer a meaningful placement based on your skills, interests and sabbatical goals.
