Beginning an NPNP is different in each context, but there are common practices that give you the best opportunity to be fruitful.

For Districts

Starting new Christian communities: A practical guide contains a range of materials which we believe are crucial to developing an NPNP. You can read, download and print individual chapters of the guide on this page.

Funding Submission Form - this enables districts to claim their allocated funding of £140,000. The district funding chapter from the guide can be accessed here.

Deadlines for submissions (these are indicative, you can agree submission dates with Julian Bond, Mission Funding Officer, and ask him any funding questions: bondj@methodistchurch.org.uk).

• Mission Committee meeting, 22 October 2026. Submissions/presentation deadline early October.
• Mission Committee meeting, 26-27 February 2027. Submissions/presentation deadline early February.
• Mission Committee meeting, 13 May 2027. Submissions/presentation deadline mid-April.

For Circuits

Starting New Christian Communities: A practical guide Circuit NPNP Process.

In this Guide, we emphasise discernment and district support. These are described in Chapter 19 of the Guide, along with details of the two funding models:

• Model A enables districts to ‘bundle’ more than one submission for the whole (or balance) of the circuit funding. Circuit submission form here. Do get in touch to begin a conversation before completing the form.
• Model B seeks approval for a district oversight process which enables a ‘for information’ submission process. District oversight form here.

Funding deadlines

• Connexional NPNP funding needs to be accessed by all districts by 31/08/2026. The last opportunity to claim funding is therefore the May 2026 Mission Committee. Any district that does not access its funding by then will no longer be able to claim any funding under this programme. Remaining funds can be redistributed in line with strategic plans in 2026/2027.
• There is absolutely no pressure to access this funding if the district/circuit discerns this is not feasible given their circumstances.
