Encounter Together in Brazil
A two-week group pilgrimage to Brazil for young adults of the Methodist Church in Britain, aged 18–30.
Saturday 3 July – Sunday 18 July 2027
Why join Encounter Together in Brazil?
To connect with a worldwide Methodist neighbour! As you encounter the mission and ministry of the Methodist Church in Brazil, you will:
Explore and deepen your faith by:
- Travelling with others from the Methodist Church in Britain and our partners in Brazil
- Sharing in cross-cultural prayer, devotion and worship as you journey together.
Discover more about the Methodist Church in Brazil as you:
- Join in their regional week of evangelism
- Inspire children at their Vacation Bible School
- Contribute to creative street evangelism (eg drama, dance and perhaps even juggling!)
- Engage in community outreach
- Take part in a reflective retreat
- Connect with young adults and learn what it is like to be a Christian in Brazil.
Return home to share your experiences with your church, circuit and beyond by:
- telling your Encounter Together story on social media
- writing an article for your church or circuit newsletter
- speaking at a church or circuit event
- creating a blog piece, video or podcast for sharing across the Connexion.
Find out more at our information evening on Wednesday 4 November, 6pm.
Full participation in the programme requires attendance at:
- Online selection: a morning or afternoon between 7 and 12 December 2026
- Online participant gathering: January 2027 (date TBC)
- Residential training weekend: 16–18 April 2027 (provisional date)
- The full Encounter in Brazil: 3–18 July 2027
- Personal online debriefing: between 9–27 August
- Full group debriefing day: Saturday 4 September 2027 (provisional date)
Costs
Our young adult Encounters are subsidised to a £500 contribution per participant.
We expect the full cost of Encounter Together in Brazil to be approximately £2,800 per person. However, with support from the World Mission Fund and other Connexional funds, we are pleased to reduce this to £500.
We completely understand that £500 is a substantial amount of money! That’s why we meet with each participant to build a fundraising plan. This might involve hosting fundraising events or accessing grants from the wider Methodist Church community (eg churches, circuits, districts).
In addition to this, there is a Global Relationships bursary available to participants needing further assistance to reach their £500 target.
Applications close: Friday 27 November
