This resource is designed to help encourage and equip churches to engage with evangelism through sports – from community fun runs to major international fixtures. Each event looks different, and each church will want to join in in different ways.
Whether you’re regularly present on the pitch, or just tentatively stood on the sidelines – anyone can get involved. You don’t need to be an expert, just willing to join in! This resource will help you discover the joy, energy and opportunities that sports events present – and how we can join in with the celebration as people of faith.
Sports creates natural gathering points that feel accessible, non-threatening and inclusive. It allows people to show up as they are, without needing to ‘opt-in’ to church language or culture. It’s also built around community and a common goal – whether that’s finishing a race, completing a climb, or supporting a team. Those shared experiences make it much easier to build real relationships, which is often where evangelism begins.
