Reimagining Church in Sheffield: Welcome to Broomhill Methodist Centre
In the heart of Sheffield’s Broomhill neighbourhood, something extraordinary is unfolding. Broomhill Methodist Centre is being transformed into a vibrant, inclusive space where faith, community, and creativity come together in bold new ways.
A New Vision for a New Generation of New People
Rather than focusing solely on traditional Sunday worship, the Centre is launching three new, innovative communities under one roof:
🧗 Climbing Church – Where adventure meets spirituality. Using the Centre’s brand new climbing wall, this community blends physical challenge with faith exploration in a unique and engaging way.
👨👩👧 Families Church – A playful, interactive imaginative play space for children and parents to grow in faith together, building on learning from Sheffield Circuit’s “Sam’s Space” soft play centre.
🎓 Student Church – Designed to connect with students in ways that traditional churches often can’t, offering a fresh and relevant approach to faith during university life.
Each community is tailored to meet the needs of its audience, while sharing a common goal: to create authentic relationships and spaces where people can explore faith in ways that feel natural and meaningful.
Built to Inspire
This isn’t intended just as a local idea —it’s a model for others. With a focus on sustainability, the Centre will generate income through partnerships with local businesses. It’s also supported by the circuit’s new Property Development Group and Missional Property Enabler.
What’s Next?
With biannual reviews, a strong leadership team, and a commitment to inclusion and innovation, the Broomhill Methodist Centre is set to become a beacon of hope and transformation, not just for Sheffield, but for the wider Church.
