Pension and Assurance Scheme for Lay Employees of the Methodist Church (PASLEMC)

NB: These pages are for centrally employed Lay Employees of the Methodist Church only.

For locally employed lay employees - Pension arrangements are managed locally and are not covered by these pages.  For further details of the arrangements that are available to locally employed employees please click on this link.

On 18 March 2025, the Trustee agreed to commence the winding up of the Scheme. The Pensions Team and the Trustee advisors are now working with Aviva to be able to buy-out all members benefits.

The end of this process will be that each member will have a policy in their own name with Aviva. For pensioners, Aviva will then take over the pensioner payroll from the in-house Team and deferred members benefits will be payable by Aviva at retirement.

Please note that there are several stages involved before the buy-out can be concluded. Our Pensions Team will continue to administer the Scheme until the buy-out is concluded, which is expected to be done by no later than the end of 2026.
