Methodism in Cuba began in 1883 through Cuban emigrant pastors sent by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, USA to open a mission in a Havana hotel.

The work was interrupted by the Spanish-American War but resumed in 1898 with the arrival of American missionaries.

The church held its first annual conference in 1923 and became autonomous in 1968.

Since then, it has been self-supporting and has grown steadily, particularly since a revival movement in the late 1990s.

The church has also contributed to regional mission efforts, including sending Cuban missionaries to Honduras. Its history is marked by resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to proclaiming Christ in the Cuban context.
