Comunidad Cristiana Metodista de Venezuela
(The Methodist Christian Community of Venezuela)
The Comunidad Cristiana Metodista de Venezuela (CCMV) is a vibrant Methodist community rooted in the heart of Venezuela’s most vulnerable neighbourhoods.
Across five congregations, CCMV is living out the Gospel through a range of ministries including healthcare, education, ecological initiatives, and advocacy for children, women, and young people.
Since 2022, CCMV has been implementing a bold mission plan focused on three key areas: reshaping its governance from a presidential to an episcopal model, deepening discipleship and theological training for pastors and lay leaders, and launching income-generating projects to reduce reliance on international funding.
These initiatives are helping CCMV grow in resilience, create local jobs, and strengthen its witness.
Despite facing significant political and economic challenges, CCMV continues to shine as a beacon of hope—embodying Christ’s presence through justice, service, and spiritual transformation.

CCMV originated in 1987 as Presencia Cristiana Popular, an ecumenical movement inspired by Franciscan spirituality and Liberation Theology. Emerging from Christian Base Communities, it focused on literacy and cooperative development among Venezuela’s poor.
In 1990, the first Methodist congregation was planted, and by 1993, CCMV was officially founded and legalized. It was recognized by CIEMAL in 1995 as an emerging church, becoming Venezuela’s first Methodist presence.
The Church was established by independent evangelical pastors with support from CIEMAL, the United Methodist Church, and GBGM.
Rooted in grassroots activism, CCMV chose Methodism as its theological and pastoral framework, aligning with its mission of justice and service.
Over the years, it has grown into a vibrant, inclusive, and ecumenical community committed to spiritual transformation and social impact, maintaining strong partnerships with global Methodist bodies while remaining deeply embedded in local struggles.
