Safer Recruitment and training

As our volunteers are working at a residential event for children and young people, everyone is subject to our comprehensive Safer Recruitment process. 

The process involves two references (including one from your Methodist minister or church leader) and you will need a Methodist UK DBS certificate that is less than five years old, or a DBS certificate from another organisation that is less than two years old.

If you are a returning volunteer, we only require a reference from your minister

We require Volunteers to have completed the following training:

  • Foundation Safeguarding Training within the last 4 years
  • EDI
  • Unconscious Bias
  • Accessibility

Safeguarding Training can be accessed through your District, please contact your local Safeguarding Officer to enroll. All other training can be accessed through MCBX.

All certificates should be uploaded to iKnowChurch along with the date of completion
