Local Preacher
Love This Calling - local preachers
Through preaching, our faith is shared, imaginations are stirred, God’s voice is heard and people’s lives are changed.
Preaching takes many different forms. As a Methodist local preacher, you are called and trained to enable others to worship God.
“Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favourable or unfavourable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 (NRSV)
- What is it that excites you about God’s word?
- How could you communicate this with others?
- How can the worship and preaching of the Church be transformed so that others can meet God and grow in faith?
Find out how to become a Local Preacher
On a typical Sunday, local preachers are leading approximately 60% of services. They come in all shapes and sizes.
We have some amazing films of some local preachers talking about their calling, their experiences of God, the training course for preachers, and loads more. We really do recommend you browse them on our YouTube channel to be inspired.
You might want to use these in meetings and services in your own context.

In the second one (one and a half minutes)
Listen to Gareth and notice that part of his discernment to preach was nudges from other people.
- When in your life have you felt internal and external nudges that helped you to discern what’s part of your journey with Jesus?
