Places on these courses are prioritised for Methodist leaders, workers, volunteers and parents. If you are not Methodist and would like to attend a course, please contact Lynne Norman and she will ensure you are added to a waiting list.
This online course, led by Lynne Norman from the Methodist Children, Youth and Family Team and James Devenish from the Methodist Learning Network, is for those in the Methodist Church (paid or volunteer) who work with or support young people aged 8-18. It will teach you the skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need. In doing so, you can speed up a young person’s recovery and stop a mental health issue from getting worse.
In 2025 there are two more opportunities to attend this training. Please note, participants will need to attend all sessions in order to complete the course and receive certification.
Option 1 four sessions: Tuesday 1, Thursday 3, Tuesday 8, Thursday 10 July 2025 (all sessions online, 9.30am - 1pm). Find out more and book here.
Option 2 eight sessions: Monday 3, Thursday 6, Monday 10, Thursday 13, Monday 17, Thursday 20, Monday 24, Thursday 27 November 2025 (all sessions online 6.30pm - 8.30pm). Find out more and book here.
The cost for the training is £37, this covers the price of the course materials (which will be posted to your home address) and the Eventbrite fees. This training has a recommended retail price of £300 and we are offering it for a heavily subsidised price to those working for the Methodist Church.
