Quiz
If you want to know even more about Deacons, sign up for the Living Library on 22 May
www.methodist.org.uk/for-churches/vocations/living-library/
A Living Library is an event where some people are the ‘books’, and other people are ‘readers’ who listen to the stories and ask questions of the ‘books’.
You’re invited to a Vocations Living Library Saturday 22 May 2021 10am-12noon
On Tuesdays, over the next few months, we are introducing you to some of the ‘books’.
Today Sam talks about being a youth worker.
- If you’ve ever thought about a role in church life, and want to know a bit more about what it involves – come to the Living Library
- If people keep suggesting you try a new role in church, but you’re not so sure - come to the Living Library
- If you are just curious about the people who lead our churches and why they do it - come to the Living Library
Books in the 2021 library:
• Children, Youth & Families workers
• Methodist Ministers talking about making new members

The Vine video
It’s Wednesday, so we are praying together using a video to guide us. View and download the video here
Loving God, Help us to see our communities as you see them. Amen
This week the video from The Vine invites us to see the people around us as God sees them. This is sometimes easy to do, and sometimes very hard.
If you want to see all the videos from The Vine subscribe with them here.
Vocation Sunday, 2021 – save the date
Vocation Sunday – save the date – Sunday 2 May, 2021
You might have seen this image from LICC
On the image on the left, the red dots represent gathered church (about 7% of the UK population). In the image on the right, the same dots are us as scattered church. We are still church.
What are the vocations of the gathered church in the place where you live?
What are the vocations of the scattered church in the place where you live?
Idea!
When it’s safe to do so, have a meal together and share what your vocations are in scattered church. You will be amazed what you learn about one another.
Exploring Ordained Ministry
Twice a year we hold events for anyone exploring ordained ministry.
Next date:
Saturday 17 April
- By coming along it doesn’t mean you’re committing to anything, you’re just exploring
- We won’t tell anyone you have been to the session
- The sessions are friendly and relaxed
We send you some videos to watch before the session and we invite you to start to jot down thoughts and ideas in a notebook/on your phone so that you’ve had some info and stimulate your thinking before the session.
On the day
- we worship together
- there is some small group work sharing ideas about images of ministry
- most of the session is for you to ask your questions of a panel or lay and ordained people.
To book your place click here.
If you want to candidate as an ordained minister in the next 12 months you need to have completed the initial paperwork by the end of August, so now is a good time to come along to find out more.
This Time, This Place
Wondering what to use to help you deepen your prayer life now lent is over?
Did you know that This Time:This Place is out now?
- It is A6
- It has a question at the top of each page
- How to use it…
Dip your toe in
Choose a reflection question to read and, in the space provided, jot down or sketch your initial responses. The prompt questions may help to stimulate your thoughts.
Go deeper
Ponder the reflection questions, allowing plenty of time to focus on each one, maybe days or even weeks. Write any longer responses down in a notebook.
Could you explore these questions with others who are seeking to follow Jesus?
- We think it is suitable for most adults and young people in secondary school.
