LoveThisCalling Social Media content to share - 11 April
- List the ways in which your church offers spiritual accompaniment in ‘such a time as this
- Are you called to join in with that?
- Do you have a vision for new possibilities?
In the photo above Nel shares what she loves about being a Presbyter. No one is pretending this is an easy call to respond to, or that now especially is without its challenges. Nel challenges us that it is ‘such a time as this’ that what’s to love.
So in these strange times, do you feel God is nudging you to something different? If that might be becoming a Methodist Minister – a presbyter or a deacon. There are events a couple of times a year for people exploring ordained ministry, check that out here.
The event is for anyone who is wondering if ordained ministry is your path – we won’t tell your Minister, or anyone else, that you came along, we won’t give you the hard sell. We will provide space for you to ask questions of real Ministers, and offer you some of the information that might aid your discernment.

Called to be postcards
- What sort of leaders do you think the Church needs?
- Do you have these gifts?
Ask 10 presbyters what they do and you will get 10 different answers.
This ministry is a calling to BE a Presbyter, and what each one DOES is as different as they are. What all Presbyters have in common is a sense of a call to Word and Sacrament – in other words, sharing the Good News, and inviting us all in to God’s presence in sacred ways.
On our website we have some great videos of a range of Presbyters talking about their calling.
Living Library
A Living Library is an event where some people are the ‘books’, and other people are ‘readers’ who listen to the stories and ask questions of the ‘books’.

On Tuesdays, over the next few months, we are introducing you to some of the ‘books’.

- If people keep suggesting you try a new role in church, but you’re not so sure - come to the Living Library

The Vine video
What does it mean to go and ‘make disciples’?
This film is 95 seconds, take the time and take this question to God in prayer.
Each Wednesday we are posting a film which is for you to be able to pause and take a moment to consider what Jesus is calling to you at this time. We are calling this Worship Wednesdays!
The short videos we will be posting over the next 14 weeks on Wednesday will all be from our friends at The Vine (produced by Twelvebaskets and with the support of a grant from Yorkshire West Methodist District).
You can sign up to receive The Vine at Home or find out how your circuit can subscribe to lectionary-based resources from The Vine.
Vocation Sunday, 2021 – save the date
Vocations Sunday is a time to celebrate the vocations of those whose call is in gathered church as well as those whose call is in scattered church.
Are you preaching on Vocations Sunday?
- Have you considering sharing your calling story with the congregation?
- If so, why not share a story that expresses your sense of calling in 2021
Alison Ransome, our Vocations Advisor, has been listening to lots of calling stories and quite a few of those stories include people remembering hearing a Minister or Local Preacher share their story in worship.
