2021 statistics reports

The figures submitted during the 2021 data collection can now be viewed and downloaded via the links below. 

Reports are listed by District and contain detailed circuit and church data. The raw data is provided in Excel format to enable further research.

PLEASE NOTE: Churches were asked to provide basic membership numbers only as unfortunately, restrictions on public gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic did not allow for the meaningful recording of worship attendance during the 2021 data collection period. However, the reports have space for Districts to record their own attendance figures should any numbers have been collected locally.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Completion rate was down this year to 84%, down from 98% in 2020. This will have an impact on the total membership figures in the report.

Previous years' statistical data for individual churches can be accessed via the "Print Reports" function within each church record on the Methodist Online Suite.

Past District-wide reports are available in the Historic data archive section.

PLEASE NOTE: The annual reports show the membership of the societies reported as active (or “open”) at the time the statistics snapshot was recorded (1 Nov 2021). This means that e.g. the total 2020 membership figures in the 2020 reports differ from the total 2020 membership figures in the 2021 reports as the more recent reports do not include societies that have ceased to meet, become a class or merged during the latest statistical year.
