Superintendents have a key role in enthusing and encouraging a culture of discipleship within their teams and across their circuit.
A Methodist Way of Life will enable you to make a difference – resourcing your ordained and lay colleagues in nurturing that culture.
“If it doesn’t fit into A Methodist Way of Life, we shouldn’t be doing it.”
Ideas to try
Every context and church community is different. The most appropriate ideas will be the ones that are authentic for the people and place you’re in. Here are a few ideas to consider – more can be found on the pages for each commitment, and onthe MWOL resources page (includinga series of service outlines).
Consider which churches are beacons of excellence in the different aspects of A Methodist Way of Life, and suggest they offer support and guidance in this spiritual area to other churches in the circuit.
Encourage your leadership team's own spiritual growth with a deep exploration of their discipleship and a challenge to commit to new areas of engagement. Encourage them to identify their ‘home station’ using the floor map and badges. Challenge them to travel to a new station. Use the discussion questions to share your journeys.
Engage with A Methodist Way of Life in your mission planning. Review what’s already happening in the circuit and identify areas that could be developed in extending mission, discipleship and evangelism across the circuit. Pick just one or two areas to focus on for a period of time.
Explore A Methodist Way of Life as part of the continuous spiritual and practical development of Ministers, Local Preachers and Worship Leaders, at Local Preachers meetings or other development events.
