 Good News Story: Taketime App

The TakeTime App has had over 500 downloads, with an expected 60,000 meditations listened to this year overall, and is a series of Bible-based meditations, inspired by Ignatian Spirituality and Mindfulness. These meditations enable people to encounter Jesus, who has a habit of responding with welcome and love in a way that is often therapeutic and transformational. Anyone can use these meditations, regardless of background or religion, and the App provides a calm, comfortable space in which to meet God. For many, the meditations are primarily about experiencing a deep sense of healing peace, for some they have proved life-changing.

“Christians are finding a fresh breeze gently blowing through their faith, but what is more striking is how the technique is welcomed by agnostics, atheists and those who have wondered about faith but found church too daunting.” The trickle-down effect is that people are experiencing God’s love and encountering Christ for the first time. Here is an extract from an atheist suffering with long term anxiety and depression: “Although I am an atheist, I am quite a spiritual person, and am able to imagine Jesus in my life, loving and supporting me…I will often talk to Jesus in a meditation about something I am anxious about, thinking ‘I know what he is going to say’, but the answer is often something completely different…I feel that Taketime has really made a difference because I have access to a loving, helpful presence at any time. I now attend a local Taketime Together group" https://taketime.org.uk
